Clinical Investigation of Azosemide (SK-110) in Patients of Nephrotic Syndrome

Abstract
The diuretic efficacy and safety for once daily dosing of azosemide, a newly developed loop diuretic, was studied in series of 20 patients of nephrotic syndrome.
The initial doses of azosemide were 60mg/day which were doubled, if there was no diuretic effect, improving edema, and decreased body weights.
Azosemide induced a clinically significant diuretic effect, reduced generalized edema and body weight immediately starting the therapy of azosemide and 4 weeks after therapy aimost all edematrus state was improved.
The efficacy of 13 days azosemide therapy was noted an excellent in 7 patients (35%). good in 11 patients (55%), and failed in 2 patients (10%) but in 4 weeks therapy excellent in 18 patients (90%) and failed in 2 patients (10%).
There were no remarkable side effects such as headache, weakness, indigestion, and generalized aching pain.
And also there was no abnormal results of laboratory test 4 weeks before and after azosemide therapy. This results indicated that azosemide is an effective and safe new loop diuretic in treatment of edematose nephrotic syndrome.
